Our budding year 4 girls football team had an amazing afternoon at Kew Association last week. Many of them have been attending Girls football club at school with Mr Ford and this was a great chance to test out their skillls against other schools. The girls played brilliantly throughout the afternoon playing 4 games winning 3 and losing 1. All the girls played amazing with two year 3's also playing up a year it was a great team effort. Special mention to top scorer Elizabeth and also to Y3 Annabeth who manged to scored a goal in her first football competition in KS2.
The year 2 football festival is a great event which we attend every year this year there was 26 different schools attending. Children got the chance to play 6 matches against 3 other schools. The players got better and better throughout the day and scored lots of goals and tackles. The idea is to offer them a positive footballing experience to enjoy further events in the future.
Well done all !!
The first KSSP sporting event of the year took place on Tuesday 11th September, the girls have had very little time to prepare for this event and had to rely on all the hard work they had done last academic year. Nevertheless the girls preformed brilliantly and gave it their all. The standard was very high with more and more girls playing football locally in the borough. Despite not qualifying for the next round the Girls represented the school extremely well and can be proud of their improvements throughout the competition.
7 lucky year 3 girls got to represent the school at a wonderful year 3 girls football festival hosted by Surbiton High School. The festival was a brilliant success hosted at amazing facilities in Hinchley Wood. The girls played amazing throughout the day and got better and better as the day went on. They played 6 games in total and managed to score lots of goals and work well as a team.
What a fabulous day on Friday 6th July for the whole school. We managed to survive the heat to take part in another wonderful sports day for the children of St Josephs.
The day started with our fantastic gymnastics team who choreographed their own routine to perform in front of the whole school and the parents/guardians who came to support - they were amazing.
All the children turned up on the day wearing the new P.E T-shirts which represented the colour of the house they belong to. Fisher House were hoping to defend their title from 2017 however, this year, Campion House snatched the title away by only 7 points and were declared the Sports Day Winners for 2018.
Sports Day allowed children to showcase some of the skills they have learnt in P.E with Mr Ford such as Javelin, Standing Long Jump, Hurdles and Sprinting.
This day was made extra special by the fantastic turn out from the parents and the effort and enthusiasm shown by the children, despite the heat.
Thank you to all those who took part in the parent's race - competitive as always but such fun for the children. Thankfully, all stretches were completed before hand resulting in zero injuries.
The last race of the day was the much anticipated Teachers V House Captains - the Teachers were especially anxious about this as they needed to regain the title after losing for the last 3 years in a row. It was a closely contested race but it was clear the Teachers had been practising (especially the baton handover) and they came away the winners - this win was celebrated with great delight and relief.
Everyone had such a fantastic day and showed the wonderful St Joseph's spirit we are known for, roll on next year!
