  • Year 6 Residential to Isle of Wight

    Tue 30 Oct 2018
On Monday 8th October, pupils from Year 6 embarked on the annual residential trip to PGL in the Isle of Wight. During our visit – via an exciting ferry trip across the Solent – the children took part in a host of fun and challenging activities such as archery, trapeze, climbing, all aboard, quad biking, giant swing and the dreaded sensory trail! They had to use a range of skills including communication, co-operation and resilience. The children took part in all the activities with real enthusiasm and seem to have grown in confidence having confronted their fear of heights, learnt the best way to support and encourage one another and to look after themselves while away from home, sometimes for the first time.
"The Isle of Wight trip was lots of fun due to the fact that most of the children had not done activities like this before, making it a new opportunity for most of them." - Grace
"It was the BEST week of my life" - Ana

  • Y5 Girls Kingston football competition

Mon 24 Sep 2018 Mr Ford

The first KSSP sporting event of the year took place on Tuesday 11th September, the girls have had very little time to prepare for this event and had to rely on all the hard work they had done last academic year. Nevertheless the girls preformed brilliantly and gave it their all. The standard was very high with more and more girls playing football locally in the borough. Despite not qualifying for the next round the Girls represented the school extremely well and can be proud of their improvements throughout the competition.

  • 3rd Place finish for St Joseph's Rounders team in borough competition

Wed 11 Jul 2018 Mr Ford
On a blazing hot summers afternoon, St Joseph's year 6 rounders team took part in the Kingston Borough rounders competition. Having previously won this event last year there was lots of excitement building. The competition involved 12 teams in 4 groups of 3. St Joseph's had a brilliant group stage winning both group games quite comfortably scoring an impressive 11 rounders in both games. The team made up of year 6's where determined to give it their all as this was likely to be their last competition representing the school. The progressed to the Semi finals where we met a very good Tolworth team who eventually won by 2 1/2 rounders to make it to the final. St Joseph's then played a 3rd & 4th place playoff against Christchurch New Malden, a game which was very entertaining with lots of rounders being scored. Eventually team SJP managed to claim victory and get a very impressive 3rd place finish. The children can be so proud of all their achievements this year and what a great way to finish their primary school journey.
  • Sports Day

    Tue 10 Jul 2018

What a fabulous day on Friday 6th July for the whole school. We managed to survive the heat to take part in another wonderful sports day for the children of St Josephs.

The day started with our fantastic gymnastics team who choreographed their own routine to perform in front of the whole school and the parents/guardians who came to support - they were amazing.

All the children turned up on the day wearing the new P.E T-shirts which represented the colour of the house they belong to. Fisher House were hoping to defend their title from 2017 however, this year, Campion House snatched the title away by only 7 points and were declared the Sports Day Winners for 2018.

Sports Day allowed children to showcase some of the skills they have learnt in P.E with Mr Ford such as Javelin, Standing Long Jump, Hurdles and Sprinting.

This day was made extra special by the fantastic turn out from the parents and the effort and enthusiasm shown by the children, despite the heat.

Thank you to all those who took part in the parent's race - competitive as always but such fun for the children. Thankfully, all stretches were completed before hand resulting in zero injuries.

The last race of the day was the much anticipated Teachers V House Captains - the Teachers were especially anxious about this as they needed to regain the title after losing for the last 3 years in a row. It was a closely contested race but it was clear the Teachers had been practising (especially the baton handover) and they came away the winners - this win was celebrated with great delight and relief.

Everyone had such a fantastic day and showed the wonderful St Joseph's spirit we are known for, roll on next year!
