School Improvement Fund

St Joseph’s is a Voluntary Aided School. This gives us greater independence in running the school; however, it also means we have additional financial responsibility for “capital spending” (e.g. maintenance of buildings and grounds or upgrading ICT equipment). We are entirely reliant on parents to support the financing of these projects.

Last year the Fund was used to upgrade the IT suite and provide Smart Boards. Priority spending for 2020 includes:

  • Repairing the fabric of the building, especially the heating system and the roof, which need attention
  • Planting a hedge alongside the Infant and Junior playgrounds, creating a barrier to increase security and reduce pollution in the playground
  • Developing the garden and bark area adjacent to the KS2 and Reception Class playgrounds

The support of parents is crucial if we are to continue to provide the best environment for your children. We need your help now and that is why we are asking for a donation of £60 per family per year.

The Governors are very conscious that there are many pressing needs on family budgets. The full amount can be paid in one transaction or in monthly installments over a year by standing order.

We are asking you to set up a standing order of £5 a month (£60 a year) or to make a single annual payment of £60 if possible.

This can be done online via the payment set-up on the school’s ParentMail called “School Improvement Fund 2019-20”

Or you can set up the payment via your bank. If you do this, please use your family name as a reference.

The donation from parents is voluntary and we are very grateful for any donations and to those families who have made their contributions in the last couple of months. However, so far contributions have been from a small minority of families. Without an increase in contributions the school will have to cancel or delay many of its plans for the improvement of the children’s environment.

If you would like to discuss the fund, projects for 2020, or any other aspect of the Governors’ Fund, please contact the school to make an appointment with one of the Governors.

Thank you for supporting your children’s school.
