Year 1

Hello and Welcome to Year 1 Michael Rosen Class!

Class Teacher: Mrs Sheehan

Teaching Assistant: Mrs Metayer

For more details  on our areas of study please see the medium term plan attached below.

Home Learning

The children will be given Home Learning every Friday which will normally consist of a Maths or English task.  This could be to produce a poster on our current topic, play a game or complete an activity sheet.  Home learning is due back the following Wednesday unless indicated otherwise. We also send home a list of key words every week that they need to be able to read and spell confidently - please help them with this.

Reading Books
All children have a reading book and reading record diary, that they take home and share with an adult. Please support their learning by hearing them read every day and sign their reading record once they have read.

PE

Please ensure your child has their named PE kit in school ALL WEEK. Children are encouraged to bring in tracksuit bottoms or leggings for outside PE lessons, particularly during the colder months.

Our PE days for this term are now Tuesday and Friday.

Parent Helpers

If you are able to spare an hour or two to come into class to play Maths games, listen to readers, or even share a favourite story, it would be very much appreciated. Please see Mrs Sheehan if you are available, it does not need to be a weekly commitment.

Special visitors! We have been lucky to have had three different visitors in Year 1 in the past week: the Fire Brigade education officer; Grant Koper, a children's author and the Blue Cross.
