We are delighted to announce that we, St Joseph's Catholic Primary School, have achieved the School Games Mark Gold Award for the 2017/18 academic year. The School Games Mark is a Government led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.

Our sporting achievements this year include: Kingston Active School of the year for 2017/2018, High 5 Netball Plate Winners,  Y5 & 6 Sports Hall Atheltics Qualifier Winners, Key Steps 3 Gymnastics 5th Place, Year 5 & 6 Girls Tag Rugby Plate Winners, Y5 Kew Football Competition Plate Runners Up, Y5 & 6 Basketball Bronze Medalists, Y5 & 6 Girls Kwik Cricket 5th Place, Y5 & 6 Rounders Bronze Medalists. With a total of 232 young people competing in local inter-school competitions this year, we are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made our competitions possible. As part of our application, we were asked to fulfill criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year. A special thanks to all parents for allowing and supporting your children's sporting achievements. We look forward to applying once again in 2019!

  • New KS1 Climbing Wall

Thu 28 Jun 2018 Mr Ford
There was amazement after the summer half term as the children returned back to school to find a brand new transverse climbing wall in their playground. The wall had been a long term ambition for the school. The wall will not only improve the enjoyment of ks1 children at play times but also improve fine & gross motor skills for all children who use it. The hand and footing are changeable meaning the paths can be adapted to suit different abilities. Over the past 2 weeks children from reception - year 2 have been attempting to complete the wall as fast as they can. Children will see the wall as a personal challenege and a milestone that it can be completed by the end of year 2. The children have beeen so excited and havn't stopped playing on it since.

  • Y6 Visit Kia Oval

Wed 23 May 2018 Mr Ford
Year 6 went to the Kia Oval last Friday to celebrate finishing their SATS, the whole of year 6 where able to watch an entertaining game between Surrey & Somerset at the Oval. The stadium was packed full of other school children to celebrate Surrey cricket schools day. The children had glorious weather as they got to see real life professional cricket up close, 8 very lucky children even manged to take part in kwik cricket match against another school on the hallowed turf during the interval. This was an amazing experience for our children and for most of them was the first experience of live sport ever. Thank you for year 6 for being extremely well behaved and representing the school in the right way. Both children and staff had a great day after an extremely busy week.

  • Y5 & 6 Wimbledon Tennis competition NOW OPEN

Wed 09 May 2018 Mr Ford

We have been very fortunate to receive 8 court 2 tickets to the Wimbledon Championships this summer for the 3rd year running. This is a fantastic opportunity to see world class athletes in a spectacular famous venue. Children in the past have got to see lots of tennis and also had the opportunity to take part in some mini tennis activities. Last year our pupils even got to play a mini match with the men's doubles winners. This really is an opportunity not to be missed, in order to enter the competition you will need to produce an A4 letter to Mrs Keefe & Mr Ford explaining why you would like to come to Wimbledon and why you should be chosen. The best 8 letters will be chosen after half term and the winners announced in assembly. The deadline for the letter to be handed in is Friday 25th May.

    GOOD LUCK !!!!

  • Year 6 Basketball Team take bronze in Borough competition

Thu 03 May 2018 Mr Ford
Team SJP picked up another medal earlier in the week when the year 6 basketball team managed to get the bronze medal in the Kingston borough competition. The team made up of Melanie, Grace, Joel, Nicholas & Josh O played some excellent basketball throughout the competition and won 5 out of their 7 games they played. They finished runners up in Pool A after narrowly losing to Tolworth via a free throw shootout after the match ended 1-1. This set up a semi final match with OLI, neither team could find a way through which meant the dreaded shootout was to decide, unfortunately SJP lost their 2nd free throw shootout and went into the 3rd & 4th place play-off. St Joseph's beat Malden Parochial 2-1 in the play-off to gain the bronze medal. A great achievement and the children should feel very proud of themselves.
