Hat-Trick for St Joseph's in Schools Games awards
We are delighted to announce that we, St Joseph's Catholic Primary School, have achieved the School Games Mark Gold Award for the 2017/18 academic year. The School Games Mark is a Government led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.
Our sporting achievements this year include: Kingston Active School of the year for 2017/2018, High 5 Netball Plate Winners, Y5 & 6 Sports Hall Atheltics Qualifier Winners, Key Steps 3 Gymnastics 5th Place, Year 5 & 6 Girls Tag Rugby Plate Winners, Y5 Kew Football Competition Plate Runners Up, Y5 & 6 Basketball Bronze Medalists, Y5 & 6 Girls Kwik Cricket 5th Place, Y5 & 6 Rounders Bronze Medalists. With a total of 232 young people competing in local inter-school competitions this year, we are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made our competitions possible. As part of our application, we were asked to fulfill criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year. A special thanks to all parents for allowing and supporting your children's sporting achievements. We look forward to applying once again in 2019!
We have been very fortunate to receive 8 court 2 tickets to the Wimbledon Championships this summer for the 3rd year running. This is a fantastic opportunity to see world class athletes in a spectacular famous venue. Children in the past have got to see lots of tennis and also had the opportunity to take part in some mini tennis activities. Last year our pupils even got to play a mini match with the men's doubles winners. This really is an opportunity not to be missed, in order to enter the competition you will need to produce an A4 letter to Mrs Keefe & Mr Ford explaining why you would like to come to Wimbledon and why you should be chosen. The best 8 letters will be chosen after half term and the winners announced in assembly. The deadline for the letter to be handed in is Friday 25th May.
GOOD LUCK !!!!
All parents have received an email via Parentmail to ask them to complete a survey - we would really appreciate as many responses as possible. As Parents your views are extremely important and valuable to us and they help us when we are making decisions for our school.
Deadline is Friday 4th May.
