GP or hospital prescribed medications, for on-going medical conditions such as asthma, elilepsy, diabetes are accepted in school under certain conditions and all medication should be given to the school office for storage. Parents are required to complete a parental agreement form and health care plan, when they hand in the medication.
On other occasions it may be necesary for medication which has been prescribed by a doctor to be adminitered e.g. short courses of antibiotics. In this case, the school is only able to give antibiotics if these are required 4 times a day. They must be given to the school office by a parent and the required forms will need to be completed. A measuring spoon/syringe must be provided.
The school is unable to administer any medication which has not been prescribed by a doctor.
