World Book Day 2017

St Joseph's had a great day celebrating World Book Day 2017 on Thursday 2nd March. We chose to mark the occasion by dressing in our pyjamas and bringing in our favourite bedtime story to share. Each class was visited by different teachers across the school to share their favourite childhood books. Reading related activities took place across the school throughout the day, and we also wrote the first St Joseph's whole school story. Each class was given a time slot to contribute a paragraph to a story following on from what another class had written. Each part had to contain a special or unusual object that the teacher had brought in. At the end of the day, we had a special assembly where each teacher read out their class' section to reveal the whole story. You can read the full story in children's news.

Top 10 in borough for Netball

In very testing conditions the Kingston Borough High 5 netball finals took place on Thursday 23rd February. Team SJP competed along with 23 other schools in a huge competition spread across 6 courts. St Joseph's managed to finish 2nd in their group after winning 2 games and losing 1. This meant we progressed to the plate round of the competition allowing us to play another 5 games. The competition was very tough and we eventually ended up winning 1, drawing 1 and losing 3. This meant we finished 4th place in the plate. Out of 24 schools taking part we finished a very respectable 10th place overall.
