On Monday 5th November, the Y5 and 6 boy's football team went to Fulham FC's Training Ground at Motspur Park to take part in the EFL Kid's Cup Regional Qualifier.
The boys were placed in a group of 6. Through fierce determination and a fantastic show of character, the boys battled hard and progressed through from the group stages to the semi finals with 2 wins, 1 draw and 2 losses.
The boys played an intense final game against Latchmere in which an end-to-end game finished in a 1-0 win for St Joseph's!
The boys played valiantly in the final, but came unstuck against a fantastically well drilled Cleeve side. The boys never gave up and gave 100% until the final whistle. Due to reaching the final, the boys will return to Fulham FC in December to vie for the title of regional champions against other finalists from across the borough!
An exceptional effort from the boys and every at St Joseph's is extremely proud of them.
Last week saw a very busy week for the Y5 & 6 girls football team, on Tuesday they took part in the Kingston borough qualifiers. The event which took place at Chessington School was an opportunity for the girls to play against 5 other schools with the top two teams going through to the borough finals. The girls started very strong not conceding single goal in the 1st two games winning 1 and drawing 2.Tired legs saw them suffer defeat in the final two games resulting in a 3rd place finish and unfortunately missing out on a place in the finals.
On Thursday the girls where back in action in round 1 of the District Cup. They where drawn against St Paul's KH who they had previously played in the qualifier on Tuesday. The game was an excellent advert for girls football within the borough and eventually finished 3-2 to St Paul's KH who will go through to the 2nd round. The girls battled well and scored 2 fantastic goals from Lizzie, unfortunately St Paul's just edged the game and fully deserved their victory.
It wasn’t an ordinary day for Year 6 today as they spent the afternoon as Victorian children and experienced what school life might have been like for pupils 120 years ago! They dressed the part, sat in rows in the classroom and spent the afternoon participating in Victorian learning which included poetry recitals, handwriting, times tables and singing the national anthem. Miss Ready and Mrs Croucher could get used to the children standing whenever they enter the room. Well done everyone!
Reception and Nursery were very pleased to receive a visit from Perform on Wednesday 16th October. The children had a wonderful time exploring the theme of Castles, Knights and Princesses and using drama, dance and singing to help develop their confidence, concentration and social skills.
A visit from Perform
Last week saw a fantastic game of football on the Fairfield in round 1 of the Kingston District Cup. We welcomed Lime Tree to the Fairfield in what proved to be a very entertaining game. SJP started the game very strongly with two quick fire goals from Kamil that put them into an early lead. The game was a great display of football for primary schools and attracted a fantastic number of spectators. The 2nd half saw lots of goals for both teams with SJP just holding off the opposition to run out 4-3 winners. Big well done to player of the game Kamil scoring all 4 goals for St Joseph's. The boys will now face Castle Hill at home in the 2nd round of the district cup the full draw can be found here www.platformsportscoaching.co.uk/kingston-district-cup
Finally big thank you to Mr Bawn for giving up his time and preparing the boys for the game it was a fantastic effort and we wish them good luck in the next round.
