  • STRIDE Enterprise programme

    Fri 20 Mar 2020

This term, Year 6 have launched their own businesses as part of the ‘Putting Young Minds To Work’ course run by STRIDE on entrepreneurship. Over the last eight weeks, the children have spent their Wednesday afternoons learning about product development, finance, marketing and presentation skills.

The course culminated on Tuesday in the children pitching their ideas to a panel of business experts. Each group presented their PowerPoint presentations with real confidence and the judges were hugely impressed with the professionalism and maturity that the children demonstrated. We are hoping that the Enterprise Fair will go ahead in the summer term so that the children have the opportunity to promote and sell their products.

Below are some reflections about the STRIDE programme:

    My wonderful Stride experience!

While working with Stride, I learnt how the government raises money. But, most importantly, I learnt how to work well as part of my team. My team was called ‘The Crafty 5’ and my role was the finance manager. I enjoyed my role because I learnt how to manage money and how to spend it appropriately. I am so glad that I was given this opportunity to be part of Stride and I just want to say thank you to Kath and Louise (Stride trainers) for helping us with everything.  – Lorraine

My experience of Stride was like no other. I have learnt so many new things such as the economy, how the government makes money and so many other skills. I especially learnt that a company is not easy to create and to maintain it is very tricky. But, when you do achieve these goals, you feel incredible. I have also become more responsible and independent when it comes to money. I mostly enjoyed how my team (Lemon Life) worked hard to be successful. – Daniel.
