Sainsbury's School Games Mark

At St Joseph's we are fully committed to providing every child the opportunity to develop their individual skills in as many different sports as possible. We are a member of KSSP (Kingston Schools Sports Partnership) and compete, regularly throughout the school year, against other schools in the Borough .

In 2012, 'The School Games Mark' was launched - this is a government led awards scheme to reward schools for their commitment to the development of PE, Sport and competition across their school and into the community.

As a school we continued to ensure that physical education was embedded as an integral part of school life and is enjoyed by all. Mr Ford, where possible, tries to make sure that the PE curriculum follows the sporting calendar to prepare children as best as possible for sporting participation within the KSSP events. Our support, encouragement and determination resulted in achieving Silver, progressing to Gold and maintaining Gold.

School Games Awards

Going For Gold

For the year 2015-16 we were awarded Gold!

In order to achieve this status we successfully passed the following criteria

  • Commitment to a minimum of 2 hours PE each week
  • Participation in intra-school competitions (within school)
  • Participation in inter-school competitions (against other schools)
  • Sports leaders
  • Extra-curricular clubs
  • Gifted and talented pathway
  • Reports & results on website/newsletters

This was the first time St Joseph's had ever achieved the Gold award and we are very excited about enjoying many more successful sporting years.

We are delighted to announce that St Joseph's has done the quadrouple and been awarded its 4th gold school games mark in a row for the year 2018-19! We will continue to work as a team to maintain this award with the ultimate aim of achieving platinum.
